This course covers embedded systems from a computer engineering perspective. Advancements in MEMS wireless, microprocessor technology has enabled new types of distributed wireless embedded devices, making ubiquitous computing and sensor network applications more of a reality. The course will discuss the the enabling technologies for these platforms in terms of embedded processors, embedded operating systems, low-power requirements, real-time requirements, and the application of optimization and statistical concepts for the design of embedded systems.
The course is an interactive, project course aimed at developing/improving ones research abilities. Therefore, class participation in terms of required reading, presentations, and critical critique and analysis is expected.
